Maggie Burrell's Store

23 Quarry Street, corner of Barnett Street, c. 1910s. The Burrell family story is summarised by Kristi McNulty in the FHS Newsletter for July 2023: 3-4.

23 quarry

Heritage Council:
The Corner Store, 23 Quarry Street, is an example of a commercial building in the Fremantle Town Centre dating from the early decades of the twentieth century.
Commercial Building, 23 Quarry Street, is a two storey rendered stone and zincalume hipped roof and truncated corner building attached to a more recent brick building which has a saw tooth roof.

I took photos of the ghost sign, but not one of the general context, so the one above is from Google Maps. Since they went past, the scaffolding has gone, so it looks as tho the intention is to leave the rendering on the upper floor, and to continue to show the remains of the sign.
